One of the wonders of the Christian faith is the fact that God gives you freedom of will. It is well known that Jesus never forced anyone to follow Him. He offered a new way of life – life in all its fullness – then left it to the individual to accept or to reject this offer. The same offer is made by our gracious Lord today.
However, having accepted the lordship of Christ over your life He expects you to submit to Him and to serve Him with a cheerful heart. There will be those moments when this will not be easy; when you are in doubt; when you feel that you simply cannot do what Jesus requires of you.
It is in these circumstances that you need to open your heart to the influence of the Holy Spirit and allow Him to take control of your thoughts and emotions. As you seek His help you will experience a new approach to life, an approach filled with a sense of peace, joy and fulfilment. The Spirit of God who lives within you will enable you to override your fears and you will embark upon the Lord’s work with joy in your heart.
“Each one must do as he had made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Cor. 9:7.
