With the US presidential election over, the drums of “conspiracy” can still be heard.
It’s astonishing that more than 73-million Americans voted for Donald Trump and still he lost the election.
Was the election stolen?
The fact is that Joe Biden won by a landslide.
Is there evidence of voter fraud? Did the mail ballots swing the votes in Biden’s favour?
Are mail-in votes open to sinister forces who could manipulate the outcome?
We live in the age of fake news and whoever controls the narrative determines the “facts”.
We in SA have been exposed to one-sided, biased reporting by CNN, which has been found wanting and unreliable.
Conspiracy theories flood social media to the extent that no-one is certain what is true or false.
American democracy was once the benchmark for other nations seeking democratic change from dictatorship.
Has democracy failed?
The masses are considered “useful idiots”
Have we been duped? Will the herd mentality prevail?
It seems unlikely that Trump’s supporters will foment revolution or civil war.
But we would be awfully naïve to think that with US citizen’s rights to bear arms and own automatic weapons that such a scenario is not possible.
Credibility is not a virtue Americans can boast of.
Hillary Clinton implored Biden not to concede the election if he lost.
Now that Trump has so far refused to concede, he is labelled a bad loser.
What hypocrisy.
Remember the words of ex us president Ronald Reagan: “You ain’t seen anything yet”
Politics is a necessary evil that we have to live with until real peace descends to turn the kingdoms of this world into the Kingdom of our God.
