Weekend Post
For the record and in response to your columnist Peter Woods, article 13 July 2019 Weekend Post “Not all those saved change for the better,” only a fool would discard of his hard earned cash because of the circulation of counterfeit money. Christian salvation, unlike religious conversion, is not performance based but positionally based. Woods who is a self-confessed neurotic seems uncertain of his spiritual relevancy and eternal destiny. What is troublesome is that he repeatedly ventilates his spurious philosophy and obvious biase against the Truth that is life changing. While I agree with him that some folk who wear the label “born again” are judgemental, unhappy, miserable and unchanged, it does not negate the fact that the born again experience is Biblical and is mankind’s greatest need.
Humans are trichotomy beings made up of body, soul and spirit. An awakening of the spirit is referred to in the Sacred Scriptures as new birth. In Greek it’s the phrase “palingenesia” which being translated is the English word “regeneration.” A genuine born again believer becomes a new person. Some are ever learning but never come to the knowledge of the Truth. It is my sincere prayer that Peter’s desperate search for authenticity and truth will be found in Him who said that to know Him is life and joy unspeakable.
By God’s grace through faith in Christ I can confidently assert that I am saved and so can every one of you. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
